Lessons from the Life of King Asa

Here are some key things to consider from this story of King Asa.

Scriptures Used in this Post: Hebrews 12

We see that King Asa’s heart turn against the Lord in the rebuke and chastening he underwent. I’ve done the same thing multiple times and the Lord has taught me a few things that are laid so clearly in Hebrews 12. Here’s a list of things that God’s discipline does in us and requires of us:

  • It is given to all believers when we need it (See Hebrews 12:6-7) (God alone determines when we need it),
  • It results in life, our profit, and fits us to be partakers of God’s holiness (See Hebrews 12:9-10),
  • It’s a painful, not a joyous process (Hebrews 12:11-13),
  • We must stay in submission (not quit, given up, complain, murmur, etc.) (See Hebrews 12:7 – Endure chastening),
  • We must be trained by the discipline of the Lord, it’s much more than intellectual knowledge.

I probably have missed some things but will be looking at this more closely before it goes out..
